The goal of this project is to investigate the relationships between, Space. Place. Function & Application of furniture and fixtures design. Focused on innovation, industry standards and the understanding of the manufacturing process for mass production furniture, case goods, and fixture design.
Brief
Concept
The tea garden, with it's curves and evocative history, was the initial inspiration for the Cenear. The goal was to combine the ideas of modern Chinese furniture with a nod to historical Chinese culture. This prompted the use of the ancient tea garden curvature in the design of the back support. This created a unique, modern bench that also evokes the past.

The piece divides into two separate seating area with different colors. The shape of the seating area welcomes people into starting a conversation in any position that is comfortable and relaxing for them.
